Anna must traverse seven stations, selling her soul along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;To convey the inherent ambivalence of the &#8216;sinner&#8217;, Brecht splits the personality of Anna into Anna I, the cynical impresario with common sense and a conscience, and Anna II, the emotional, impulsive, artistic beauty, the saleable product with an all too human heart.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The classic deadly sins\u2014sloth, pride, wrath, gluttony, lust, greed, and envy\u2014represent the temptations of short-term desires, the gratification of which must be postponed for the sake of profit.
