Austria is on the brink of the so-called &#8220;Anschluss.&#8221; The harbingers of an ominous future hang in the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Back then, Marianne went with her former fianc\u00e9, Oskar. She is stuck in a life she believed she could escape with Alfred. But the journey to happiness was short-lived.
